On October 31st, 2006 Stephen Harper broke an election promise and announced a surprise additional tax on Canadian Income Trusts. This lead to a loss to investors, many senior citizens investing for income, of $35 billion dollars in savings. Western Canadian Investor Bruce Benson talked to BNN after-hours on the one year anniversary of the announcement at Stephen Harper's constituency office in Calgary, Alberta.
