Helping to save your butt on Valentines Day – Valentines Day Ideas 101
Alright I’m posting this for all you fuddy duds, heck like myself who arn’t huge fans of V-Day, however know your girlfriend or wife love the Hallmark cards and Russell Stovers conspiracy
This can help out you gals too…
First tip: Make a card don’t buy one. Everyone buys one, however a silly crayon made heart felt card is more entertaining and will make them fell loved more than Wal-Mart or Hallmark’s version of V-Day. They don’t know about the secret little moments you’ve had together. Some idea are as follows.
LOVE CLIP ARTÂ

Time, effort, creativity, and sensitivity truly define a loving gift.
Last year I spent hours, pouring through magazines looking for simple pictures and letters to use in a carefully constructed Valentine’s Rebus Message. I tried to only include a very few actual words; the rest of the message was a combination of pictures and letters to create/represent words. An example:“Honey, you light my fire.” (Use pictures of honey, a lamb, a lightbulb, M + eye, and a flame)
Then, upon completion, I carefully rolled the letter up, and put it inside an empty Dom Perignon bottle – Ron had surprised me with the bottle of Dom on our very first weekend together. I had saved the bottle, and now used it as a unique envelope.Â
The entire valentine was a compilation of memories that we had experienced throughout our relationship.
Just remember you will have to spend at least a little time on this part or grunt work as they say.
A FEW FAVORITESÂ

I don’t really like the “pressure” of valentines day, so my fiance and I have a rule that we can’t spend money on valentine’s gifts…Â
This has lead to several home made treasure over the years: One year he gave me a small blank tablet which he had transformed into “The Story of Us” cartoon flip book. One each page he had draw a picture so that when I flipped through the pages, I saw a stick figure rendition of when we met, started dating, and other adventures we had had along the way (including several moves to different states)– ending with an “I love you!” for the last few pages of the book.
Although that and others were wonderful, my favorite home made valentine still remains the first one he sent me, only a few weeks after we had gotten together. He lived in Seattle and I lived in
Knoxville. Around valentines day I received a bulky manila envelope. In it was what must’ve been about 100 of those cheezy little paper valentines that elementary students give out. On each he had written something he liked about me, “your smile,” “you challenge me,” some special memory or promise, “hiking in evergreen,” “our future.”Â
By the end of reading all of the mini-cards, I was covered in a pile of happy thoughts. They now take up several of the most treasured pages of my scrap book.Â
And one more…
SEE WHO I LOVEÂ

My husband and I live miles apart from each other cause we both are pursuing our studies. He is quite a romantic guy but is very lazy when it comes to buying cards and sending flowers though he does like to get them from me.
Last valentine’s day I sent him a card which compelled him AT LAST to send me one too. I took a blue card board, glue, red velvet cloth, small mirrors, glitter, a stem and green ribbon.
I folded the card in half n then on it i placed small velvet hearts which I had made and cut from the cloth. I arranged the hearts in the pattern of flowers. In the middle of these i glued the small
mirrors. I outlined the cards n the heart and mirrors with glitters making the card very beautiful and flashy. Inside the card i wrote to him ” u can see that who lives in my heart all the time…its your face in the mirror of my heart…”
A card is great but trust me you’ll have to probably fix/cook a dinner too, since you havn’t made reservations here are some ideas for that.Â
